European Organisation for Treatment of Trophoblastic Diseases (EOTTD)
[Dernière mise à jour : 11/08/2011]

Dear president of your national society for obstetrics and gynaecology,

We hereby would like to ask you to inform all members of your societies on the following:

At the fifteenth international meeting of the International Society for the Study of Trophoblastic Diseases (ISSTD), European clinicians/researchers working in the field of Gestational Trophoblastic Diseases (GTD) have gathered. It was widely accepted that a European network for clinicians/researchers working in the field of GTD, would lead to an improvement to knowledge and management of patients with GTD. Therefore, a European network will be formed, called: European Organisation for Treatment of Trophoblastic Diseases (EOTTD).

We hereby invite everyone who is interested in gestational trophoblastic disease to join this EOTTD by sending an email to the secretary: Nienke van Trommel, email: Nienke@vantrommel.nl.

We also kindly ask you to dispose this letter in your society/network to people you think might be interested in joining this network.

Background: In Europe, approximately 15000-20000 cases of GTD occur on yearly basis. In some countries treatment is centralized, in other countries there are no structures for referral and treatment. Since prognosis of patients improves when acting clinicians are well informed, management of gestational trophoblastic disease could be optimized by bringing together all players in the field of GTD in Europe.

Mission statement: The European Organisation for Treatment of Trophoblastic Diseases is dedicated to optimize diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and research in GTD by bringing together knowledge of clinicians and researchers working in the field of GTD in Europe.

Goals:

  • Biannual meeting
  • Facilitating establishment of new GTD centres in countries where these do not exist
  • Working group meeting at biannual ESGO meeting
  • Online tumorboard
  • Online advisory board
  • Online database linked to International Society for the Study of Trophoblastic Diseases
  • Facilitating pan-European research on GTD

Second meeting
October 16-19, 2011 Budapest, Hungary
